What is Startup India Recognition?

Startup India is an initiative by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Recognition under this scheme allows startups to:

 

  • Avail income tax exemption (under Section 80 IAC)

  • Apply for Angel Tax Exemption (under Section 56(2)(viib))

  • Access government funds of funds, seed funding

  • Benefit from faster IPR (patent/trademark) processing

  • Self-certify compliance with labor and environmental laws

  • Participate in government tenders with exemptions

 

🧾 Our Core Service Inclusions:

 

1. Eligibility Assessment

  • Ensure the business meets DPIIT criteria:
  • Incorporated as a Private Limited, LLP, or Registered Partnership

  • Less than 10 years old

  • Turnover not exceeding ₹100 Cr in any financial year

  • Working on innovation, improvement of product/service/process

  • Not formed by splitting or reconstruction of an existing business

 

2. Document Preparation

  • Collect and verify required documents:
  • Incorporation/Registration certificate

  • PAN card of business

  • Director/Partner details

  • Website or pitch deck

  • Brief about innovation/uniqueness

  • Proof of concept (if any)

  • Video or demo (optional but recommended)

 

3. Application Filing on Startup India Portal

  • Create and set up profile on Startup India portal

  • Fill DPIIT Recognition form

  • Upload all documents and pitch materials

  • Review & submit application

  • Track status and respond to clarifications (if any)

 

4. Post-Recognition Support

  • Deliver certificate of recognition from DPIIT

  • Guidance on:

    1. 80IAC Tax Exemption Application

    2. Angel Tax Exemption

    3. Connecting with incubators, seed fund schemes, or investors

    4. IPR and trademark assistance

    5. Tender registration or GEM (Government e-Marketplace)
